SAT, OCT 14 - The Filipino American Library will honor Black Eyed Peas' APL.DE.AP at the 6th Annual Spirit Awards and Dinner Benefit GALA

LOS ANGELES - Allen Pineda Lindo ("apl.de.ap") of the Grammy award-winning hip hop group Black Eyed Peas will receive the Role Model Award at the Filipino American Library's 6th Annual Spirit Awards and Dinner Benefit GALA on Saturday, October 14 at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel (506 S. Grand Ave.) in downtown Los Angeles. This year's GALA will commemorate the centennial of Filipino migration to the United States.

Cocktails will begin at 6:00 pm followed by the dinner and program at 7:00 pm. Guests will be treated to an elegant night of entertainment featuring a ballroom dance competition with celebrity judges. More than 400 people are expected to attend this largest fundraising event of the year for the Filipino American Library (FAL). Numerous sponsorship and advertisement opportunities are still available. Pre-sale dinner tickets are $125 each and $150 at the door.

The Role Model Award will be given to Mr. Lindo for the outstanding example he sets for the community. This year's awardees also include John Chiang, Chair State Board of Equalization (Public Service Award), ABS-CBN Global, LTD. (Community-Building Journalism Award), Filipino American Service Group, Inc. ("FASGI") for community service, and Washington Mutual (Corporate Philanthropy Award). The Spirit Awards and Dinner Benefit GALA honors the outstanding achievements of Filipinos and Filipino Americans.
